Undefeated Central Valley Academy is the top seed in the Section III Class B boys basketball tournament and Dolgeville has the one seed in Class C.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Unbeaten CVA grabs top seed in Class B tourney

Undefeated Central Valley Academy is the top seed in the Section III Class B boys basketball tournament and Dolgeville has the one seed in Class C.

Class AA

The two local teams in the class will square off in the opening round. Eight seed Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica (11-9) will host Rome Free Academy (10-10) at 7 p.m. Friday. The winner heads to Liverpool to play the top-seeded Warriors (17-3) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the quarterfinals. The Raiders won both regular season games, 70-63 at home Dec. 19 and 74-65 at RFA on Jan. 31.

Class A

The top local team is New Hartford (10-10), which as the five seed will host 12 seed Oswego (2-18) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in the opening round. Eight seed Utica Academy of Science (6-12) hosts nine seed Carthage (10-10) at 6 p.m. Friday. Whitesboro (8-12) is the 11 seed and will play against host Syracuse Academy of Science (10-8), the six seed, at 7 p.m. Friday.

Class B

CVA (20-0) awaits the winner of 17 seed Oneida (7-13) and 16 Cortland (6-14), who play at 7 tonight. CVA will host at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Seven seed Camden (13-7) will play at home at 2 p.m. Saturday against the winner of tonight’s 6:30 game between 23 seed Adirondack (3-17) and 10 seed South Jefferson (11-9).

Eight seed Clinton (14-6) will host the winner of nine seed Hannibal (11-9) and 24 seed Hannibal (1-19) — who play tonight — at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Holland Patent (10-10) is the 11 seed and hosts 22 seed Canastota (4-16) at 7 tonight. The winner plays at six seed Lowville (15-5) Saturday at a time to be announced.

Nineteen seed Notre Dame (5-15) plays at Solvay (8-12), the 14 seed, at 6 tonight. The winner plays at three seed Westhill (17-3) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Twenty seed Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (5-15) plays at 13 seed Cazenovia (9-11) at 7 tonight. The winner plays at four seed Marcellus (16-4) at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Class C

Dolgeville (19-1), will open at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Blue Devils await the winner of tonight’s game between 16 seed Pulaski (8-12) and 17 seed Thousand Islands (8-11).

Third seed Little Falls (17-2) will get a home game at 3 p.m. Saturday. The winner of tonight’s game at 6 between 14 seed Port Byron (10-10) and 19 seed Frankfort-Schuyler (8-12).

The 22 seed Westmoreland (2-18) travels to 11 seed Sandy Creek (11-9) at 6 tonight. The winner will play at six seed Mount Markham (14-6) at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Seven seed Herkimer (14-6) awaits the winner of tonight’s game between 10 seed Beaver River (14-6) and 23 seed Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (2-18). The Herkimer game will be at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Twelve seed South Lewis (10-9) hosts 21 seed Sherburne-Earlville (5-15) at 6:30 tonight. The winner plays at five seed Tully (17-3) at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Thirteen seed Sauquoit Valley (10-10) hosts 20 seed Cooperstown (7-13) at 6 tonight. The winner travels to Weedsport to take on the 18-2 four seed at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Class D

Local teams in the opening round are 16 seed New York Mills (5-13) hosting 17 seed Manlius-Pebble Hill (5-14) at 6 tonight, 14 seed Remsen (7-13) hosting 19 seed Morrisville-Eaton (5-15) at 7 tonight and 18 seed Poland (5-15) at 15 seed Watertown IHC (5-13) at 6 tonight.

The winner of New York Mills and Manlius will play top seed Sackets Harbor (19-1) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The winner of Poland and Watertown will travel to second-seeded Hamilton (17-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The winner of Remsen and Morrisville will play at Madison (17-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Five seed West Canada Valley (14-6) awaits the winner of DeRuyter (9-9) and Lyme (3-16), who play tonight. West Canada will play at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Eight seed Oriskany (12-8) hosts nine seed Copenhagen (11-8) at 7 p.m. Friday.

RFA 62, New Hartford 50

Rome Free Academy wrapped up the regular season with a Tri-Valley League home win over New Hartford Tuesday.

RFA led 18-12 after a quarter and 25-23 at the half. But the Black Knights outscored the Spartans by 10 in the third to put some distance between the teams.

Uzziah Grimes led RFA with 21 points. Deandre Neal scored 14 and five steals. Jack Lawless had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Jameson Stockwell led New Hartford with 18 points. Dan MacTurk scored 13 and had nine rebounds. Colton Suriano scored 10 and grabbed 17 boards for a double-double.

Both teams ended the regular season 10-10.

CVA 76, Camden 43

Central Valley Academy finished its perfect regular season with a home win over Camden Tuesday to go 10-0 and win the TVL’s Pioneer Division.
