Bathrooms have been renovated and parking lots are being expanded as part of the larger Erwin Park improvement project in Boonville.

The work is supported by Friends of Erwin Park, which has started a page at Funds are also coming from grants, bake sales, can drives, raffles and other events, according to Kelly Brach, village trustee in charge of parks and recreation. The costs of this year’s work is approximately $400,000.

This summer, the village hopes to build a splash pad park with 13 types of sprayers and designed to be accessible to children and adults with disabilities. In addition, the village plans to replace the current sand-bottom pool with an in-ground pool.

Among other planned improvements in the five-year plan for the park are a boat launch and boardwalk, extension of trails and installation of exercise station, a new unpaved nature trail, improved picnic areas and an amphitheater.

Details of the five-year plan for Erwin Park, as well as ways to contribute, are at the Friends of Erwin Park Facebook page.
