Boonville Health Center welcomes Leah Boek

BOONVILLE — Family Nurse Practitioner Leah Boek was born and raised in Boonville so she is proud and happy to be serving her community as a family nurse practitioner at Rome Health’s Boonville Health Center.

She joins Boonville native Corrine Kelley, FNP, in providing primary care for patients of all ages in the community. Located at 13407 Route 12, the practice is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, call 315-942-3500.

Boek worked as a nurse for nearly 17 years before pursuing her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner at Utica College. She earned her associate’s degree in nursing at Mohawk Valley Community College and her bachelor’s degree at Utica College. She’s had a broad range of experience in critical care, pediatrics and nursing education.

Her foundation as a nurse fueled her passion for treating patients with a holistic approach that focuses on prevention and helping people make healthier lifestyle choices.

“If someone has high cholesterol, we want to do more than just manage the condition with a pill,” she said. “The better approach is to take a holistic full body approach that helps people make small changes that improve their overall health.”

Boek encourages people who may have delayed care during the pandemic to get caught up on their screenings, immunizations and routine physicals and reach out for help if they’re struggling with depression or anxiety.

“For many people, the pandemic has impacted their mental health, which can have a direct impact on your overall physical health,” she said. “If you had pneumonia, you would seek treatment. Getting help for your mental health is just as important.”

As an accredited Patient Centered Medical Home, Boonville Health Center is committed to delivering coordinated care that’s personalized to help patients prevent illness and maintain their good health.

Boek and Kelley provide care for patients who are sick, including diagnosis and treatment plans, prescriptions and follow-up exams, as well as annual physicals and immunizations when needed.

The practice also offers DOT physicals and the convenience of an on-site laboratory collection center for blood work and other tests. Appointments are not required for laboratory services and the laboratory is open to patients of other practices.
