NEW HARTFORD — The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES Career and Technical Education Center has been named one of the top 20 schools for 2019 by the WIX Filters and O’Reilly Auto Parts School of the Year Competition, said BOCES.
This is the third straight year that the career and technical education center has been part of the top 20 in the competition.
Partnering with Tomorrow’s Tech, WIX Filters and O’Reilly’s Auto Parts announced the 14th annual top 20 selections from 196 nominations across 122 schools in the U.S., according to BOCES.
The top 20 schools have been asked to each submit a video highlighting their tech programs, and judges will select four finalists with the winner to be announced Nov. 4.
“We are honored with this recognition and must give credit to the partnerships we have that allow our students to learn not only in our program classroom and laboratory, but also in our regional automotive repair shops and service centers,” said David Stayton, principal of the OHM BOCES Career and Technical Education Center.
Auto instructor John Stratton said “to be ranked among the top 20 automotive programs in the country for the third consecutive year is truly an honor....It shows how we have been able to build a consistently strong program with the support of students, families, BOCES administration and the Cooperative Board....”
OHM BOCES serves these school districts: Brookfield, Clinton, Holland Patent, New Hartford, New York Mills, Oriskany, Remsen, Sauquoit Valley, Utica, Waterville, Westmoreland and Whitesboro.
