The Rome Free Academy boys swimming and diving team improved to 10-0 on the season with a 87-61 home win over Sherburne-Earlville on Thursday.
Winning for RFA was the 200-yard medley relay team of Jerome Gordon, Oliver Dragojevic, Charlie Gilroy and Nick Jordan. Dragojevic also won the 200 individual medley and Jackson Sorbello won the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Riley Brawdy won the 50 freestyle and Tanner Brawdy won the diving event. Gordon brought home a victory in the 100 butterfly for the Black Knights and Gilroy captured the 100 freestyle.
Oneida out-swims Proctor
In another boys swimming and diving meet, Onedia earned a road win at Proctor, 86-74.
Ajay Hicks, Kyle Fisher, Lucas DiLego and Aidan Hicks won the 200 medley relay for the Indians while Ajay Hicks won the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Ella Ryan won the 200 individual medley for 5-3 Oneida and Aidan Hicks was also victorious for the Indians in the 50 freestyle. DiLego won the 100 butterfly and Fisher won the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
HP suffer setback
The host Holland Patent boys swimming and diving squad was also in action as the Golden Knights lost to Cooperstown, 60-42.
Winning for the Golden Knights was Bobby Shivas in the diving event and Tucker Garrett in the 100 freestyle. HP’s 200 freestyle relay team of Noah Smith, Josh Corelli, Garrett and James Newland also won.
Indians storm back
Ella Rainbow’s team-high 20 points led the charge as the Oneida girls basketball team came back to earn a 60-49 Tri-Valley League road victory over New Hartford. Rainbow scored nine points in the third quarter.
Julianna Cavanagh finished with 16 points for the 7-2. Indians and Lauren Skitbitski blocked eight shots.
VVS takes TVL loss
In a TVL girls bowling match, New Hartford defeated Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, 8-3.
MacKenzie O’Herien rolled the match-high game and series for the Red Devils, throwing a 265 game and a 756 series.
HP wins CSC match
In a Center State Conference girls bowling match, Holland Patent defeated Herkimer 5-0 at Adirondack Lanes. Madison Merrill rolled the the match-high game of 177 for the Golden Knights and Savanah Burgess rolled the match-high series of 458 for 6-2 HP.
RFA falls to Proctor
In a boys bowling match at King Pin Lanes, RFA lost to visiting Proctor, 8-3.
Sam Houle rolled the match-high game for the Black Knights of 278 and finished with a team-high series of 644. Brandon Puccio added a 602 series for RFA.
The Oneida girls volleyball team swept Camden, 25-9, 25-14 and 25-20.
Schuyler Vecchiaro led the way for the 5-4 Indians with two aces, 10 assists and six digs. Zoey Fox finished with 13 assists and six digs for Oneida in the win and Jenna Ford added two aces, 12 digs and four kills.
In another girls TVL volleyball matchup, VVS was blanked by visiting Whitesboro, 25-22, 25-10 and 25-21.
Bailey Baker had 14 assists and seven digs for the Red Devils and Kailey Roberts had five kills and seven digs. KristiAnn Frank finished with 16 digs for 5-6 VVS.
Bulldogs suffer first loss
In a CSC volleyball match, Westmoreland suffered its first loss of the season, losing 25-21, 15-25, 13-25, 25-14 and 11-25 to Morrisville-Eaton.
Jenna Pastorella had three aces, two kills, 14 assists and four digs for the 10-1 Bulldogs and Janessa Rubino added five kills, seven assists and four digs.
