TOWN OF FORESTPORT — A benefit for a family of four displaced by a fire that destroyed their Woodhull Road home March 13 will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Forestport Fire Department.
Homeowners Scott and Ria Chase lost everything they owned in the devastating blaze. One family member was hospitalized.
Tickets for the benefit will be sold at the door. Cost is $10, or $15 per couple. Children under age 5 are free.
There will be music by Continental Kit from 1-3 p.m., and DEA from 3-5 p.m.
Also, there will be food, drinks, a $200 lotto board, 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, silent auction and face painting for the children.
Family members discovered the fire and escaped 12005 Woodhull Road before contacting 911 during the early morning of March 13. Firefighters said the house was fully involved on arrival.
Assistant Fire Chief Kody Smith said at the time that a lack of water in the area hampered firefighting efforts.
Smith said three of the family members suffered smoke inhalation, and at least one of them was hospitalized. No firefighters were injured.
The Chases had been staying with family members, and were assisted by the American Red Cross.
