A benefit for Gavin Maloney will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Rome Elks Lodge, 126 West Liberty Street in Rome.
Maloney is a 25-year-old Rome native who was badly injured on Sunday, Aug. 19 in a diving accident at his family’s camp in Sylvan Beach. He is currently at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. Maloney vows to walk again and his spirit to recover is amazing. In the meantime, family and friends are gathering to help out with the catastrophic financial mountain that he will face.
This benefit for Maloney will consist of two main events. The first event will feature a 32-team double elimination Cornhole Tournament. The entry fee per two-person team will be $30. Sign your team up by stopping in at the Elks Club, The Palisades or The Mill. The second event will be at 7 p.m. and will feature the renowned local band Work Related. This all-day benefit will have thoughout its entirety food, face painting, bounce house and raffle items rounding out a day of activities geared to help Maloney with his recovery.
