Beauty, Beast take stage in Remsen

The Remsen Drama Club Presents will present “Beauty and the Beast: A Faerie Tale” on Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, at 7 p.m. in the Remsen High School Auditorium.

A tale as old as time, “Beauty and the Beast: A Faerie Tale” is the origin story of the beloved title classic featuring Remsen students Olivia Hajdasz, as the Beauty, and Shaun Graves, as the Beast.

The play also includes the comedic performances of Beauty’s two sisters, Tallula, played by Megan O’Brien, and Fanny, played by Sydney Boucher.

Faerie Tale, played by Christa Fransman, leads the audience in learning that after their father, played by Brooke Green, has a fateful run-in with an isolated monster, Beauty, who is also called Keala, decides she will take matters into her own hands when she confronts Beast. Beauty then finds herself as a prisoner in Beast’s castle.

With the help of the good faeries, Beauty and Beast manage to find their way to a happy ending, but not without warding off the evil Faerie Una, played by McKenzie Finn, and her rascals first.

The play showcases set design by Lead Set Designer Rachel Carrock and the show could not go on without the help of Stage Manager Jeffrey Klossner.  The play is directed by Remsen Junior-Senior High School English teacher Julia Galime Cooper.

On Saturday, March 10, the Remsen sophomore class will host a chicken dinner from 4:30-6:30 in the Remsen High School Cafeteria. The community is invited to enjoy dinner and stay for the show on Saturday, but pre-sale tickets for dinner are preferred.  Tickets for Saturday’s chicken dinner are available by contacting the high school at 315-205-4300.

Tickets for the Remsen Drama Club 2018 Production of “Beauty and the Beast: A Faerie Tale” are available at the door only.
