CLINTON — Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St., will introduce a new season of Battle of the Books.
Those who wish to participate are encouraged to sign up at the library.
On Oct. 13, teams of 5-8 readers will battle it out in a fun and friendly competition to see who can answer the most trivia questions about seven different books. Community members are invited to put a team together and join the fun.

Also as part of the One Community. One Author. One Month event in September, students will be reading books by poet Kwame Alexander.
The public is invited to read along and support Clinton Central School students. Copies of the books are available at the library.

Great American Read

Watch the previous night’s hour-long episode of PBS’s Great American Read. Bring a bagged lunch.
Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.
Choose a recipe from the selected cookbook and bring it to a potluck dinner.
This month patrons are making recipes from “The Grilling Book” from Bon Appétit magazine or something seasonal from the bounty of the garden. There will be a grill on-site, or make the dish at home. Stop by the library to look at the cookbook, choose a recipe and sign up.

“The Joy Luck Club”
In this movie, based on the 1989 novel written by Amy Tan, a group of aging Chinese women meet regularly in San Francisco to trade familial stories while playing Mahjong.

All are welcome to join a conversation on “The Call of the Wild,” by Jack London. The book is one of PBS’s Great American Reads.
Happy Tails Reading Program

Captain the therapy dog is back after a relaxing summer vacation.
Children in kindergarten through fifth grade who can read independently are invited to sign up to read to him for 15 minutes. Just call the library or email firstname.lastname@example.org to choose a slot.
