BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: West Canada's Fellows pulls down 1,000th career rebound
Reese Fellows of West Canada Valley grabbed her 1,000th career rebound Wednesday in a 54-30 win against visiting Adirondack in the Center State Conference. She is the first player in program history to do so.
Fellows ended the night with 15 rebounds, 23 points and five assists. Erin Gorinshek also recorded a double-double on Senior Night with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Adirondack’s Ireland Payne led the team with 15 points.
West Canada (18-1) ends its regular season at Adirondack at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Adirondack (8-10) played at Herkimer Thursday. Results were not available at press time.
Cooperstown defeats Westmo
The Cooperstown girls basketball team got a 50-37 home win over Westmoreland in the Center State Wednesday.
Dani Seamon scored 18 and had 14 rebounds for a double-double in the win. Claire Jensen scored 12.
Statistics for Westmoreland were not submitted.
Westmoreland (11-7) hosts Mount Markham at 10 a.m. Saturday in the league.
Oneida rallies for home win
The Oneida boys basketball team trailed visiting Thomas R. Proctor High School Wednesday by four with a quarter to go but rallied to win 66-63 in the Tri-Valley League.
Austin DeGroat led Oneida with 23 points. Kannon Curro and Gavin Stone had 14 each and Bryson Carinci added 11.
For Proctor, Oliver Rodgers led the team with 13 points, Said-Ali Mohamed had 12 and Marc Simmons had 11.
Oneida (4-13) visits Notre Dame at 7 p.m. Friday in the league.
Proctor (9-9) hosts New Hartford at 7 p.m. Friday in the league.
Westmo seventh grade team defeats Waterville
The Westmoreland boys seventh grade team beat Waterville 36-23 Wednesday. Geo Cacciotti led 3-1 Westmoreland with 14 points. Sean Acee scored eight and Anthony Rodriguez had six.
