Oneida wins defensive battle

The Oneida girls basketball team won a low-scoring non-league game at home 29-21 over Fayetteville-Manlius.

Myah Rainbow led all scorers with 13 points and added eigth rebounds and three steals for Oneida. Kennedy Curro also grabbed eight boards.

F-M’s Evie Kawa was the team leader in scoring with nine points.

Oneida (5-5) plays at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7 tonight in the Tri-Valley League.

Zike with 21 in Camden win

Erica Zike led all scorers with 21 points for Camden in the team’s 54-26 win at home over Pulaski Wednesday in non-league play.

The teams were tied 12-12 after a quarter but Camden built a 23-17 halftime lead and pulled away with a 21-3 third quarter.

Camden’s Emily Bird had nine points, all on three-pointers. Zike had three threes as well. Layla Kilino added eight points for the Blue Devils.

Pulaski’s Eileen Carnes led her team with 10 points.

Camden (5-6) plays at Central Valley Academy at 7 tonight in the TVL.

VVS has big third quarter in victory

The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls basketball team had a six-point lead over host Stockbridge Valley at the half, then outscored them by 17 in the third to run away to a 53-23 win in non-league play.

Anna Peterson led all scorers with 19 points and had seven steals. Santina Garcia added nine points, six rebounds and four steals. Kylie Watts chipped in with seven points, three rebounds and four steals.

Statistics for Stockbridge were not submitted.

VVS (3-7) hosts Oneida at 7 tonight in the TVL.

Coleman leads Oriskany with 23 points

Jordyn Coleman scored 23 points in a 46-36 road win for the Oriskany girls basketball team over Canastota in the Center State Wednesday.

Coleman added five rebounds and five assist. Chloe Seamons had eight points, 15 rebounds and a pair of assists.

Oriskany trailed 12-5 after a quarter and 21-16 at the half. Trailing 32-22 with one quarter left, Oriskany exploded to outscore the Raiders 24-4 in the fourth for the big comeback win.

Canastota’s Alex Richie led the team with 15 points.

Oriskany (7-6) hosts Sackets Harbor at 7:30 tonight in non-league play.

Canastota (2-10) visits Sherburne-Earlville at 6 tonight in the league.
