BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Archie drops 33 in Proctor win over Whitesboro
Kavashia Archie led the Thomas R. Proctor High School girls basketball team with 33 points in a 63-52 win at home over Whitesboro in the Tri-Valley League Saturday.
Aniya Irizarry and Kaia Singleton added 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the win.
Whitesboro was led by Madelyn Montana with 17 points, including five three-pointers. Hailee Bostwick chipped in 12 points.
Proctor (10-8) ends the regular season at Whitesboro at 7 tonight.
Whitesboro (2-16) visited Camden in the league Monday. Results were not available at press time.
Jugglers win on the road
In other girls basketball action, Maggie Trinkaus scored 16 and grabbed 15 rebounds for a double-double for Notre Dame in a 54-39 win at Oneida in the TVL Friday.
Ella Trinkaus had a game-high 19 points for the Jugglers.
Oneida’s Myah Rainbow had a team-high 11 points and Kennedy Curro had nine points and nine boards.
Notre Dame (13-6) ends the regular season at Holland Patent at 7 tonight in the league.
Oneida (11-7) ends the regular season tonight at 6:30 hosting Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.
Camden splits pair of games
The Camden girls basketball team beat host Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Friday then fell Saturday at Poland.
The Blue Devils beat VVS 51-33.
Camryn Shenk led the way with 13 points for Camden. Katie McCarthy and Erica Zike had 12 points each. Zike scored all her points on four three-pointers.
VVS’ Anna Petersen led the Red Devils with 14 points.
VVS (3-15) played at RFA in the TVL Monday. Results were not available at press time.
On Saturday, Poland won 58-34.
Zike scored 17 to lead Camden.
Logan Cookinham led Poland with 30 points including four three-pointers.
Camden (6-12) hosted Whitesboro Monday in the TVL. Results were not available at press time.
Poland (17-2) ended its regular season at Little Falls Monday. Results were not available at press time.
Red Devils beat Blue Devils
The VVS boys basketball team got a 71-62 home win against Camden in the TVL Friday.
Trailing four after three quarters the Red Devils outscored the Blue Devils 22-9 in the fourth quarter to win.
Eliijah Donegan led VVS with 18 points. Degaragen Paradis had 16. Atticus Roque had 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Camden did not submit statistics.
VVS (5-14) hosts Oneida at 7 tonight in the league to end the regular season.
Camden (12-6) played at Whitesboro Monday. Results were not available at press time.
O’Neal and Judd lead CVA
Jaylon O’Neal scored 26 and Deacon Judd had 25 in Central Valley Academy’s 80-60 win at Holland Patent Friday to improve to 19-0. They each had 12 rebounds for double-doubles.
The unbeaten Thunder led 21-9 after a quarter. CJ Judd contributed 13 points for CVA.
HP’s Jeffrey Dewar had a team-high 17 points. Luke Benedetto scored 11.
CVA (19-0) hosts Camden at 7 tonight in the league to end the regular season.
HP gets road win
The Holland Patent boys basketball team got double-digit scoring from four players in a 59-53 non-league win at General Brown Saturday.
Dewar led HP with 15 points, Andrew Jones had 14, Nicholas Acevedo had 12 and Jordan Carhart had 11.
Tucker Rosbrook led General Brown with 28 points and 15 rebounds.
HP (9-10) ends the regular season at Notre Dame at 7 tonight in the TVL.
Sauquoit wins at home
The Sauquoit boys basketball team beat visiting Westmoreland 65-46 Friday in the Center State Conference.
James Henck led Sauquoit with 13 points. Donavon Nelson had 11 and Frank Aquaviva added 10.
Bryan Doyle’s 24 points was not enough for Westmoreland. He also had 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Sauquoit ends the regular season 10-10.
Westmoreland ends the regular season 2-18.
RFA girls JV wins
The RFA girls junior varsity basketball team beat Whitesboro 53-27 Friday.
RFA’s Natalia DiPaolo led the team with 13 points. Hannah Purrington had 12 points. Sage Andrews had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Whitesboro’s A’Nya Jackson had 14 points and teammate Raina Kohlbrenner scored eight points.
Westmoreland boys win
The Westmoreland seventh grade boys basketball beat New York Mills 36-30 on Saturday.
Sean Acee led Westmoreland with 14 points and Geo Cacciotti scored eight.
Westmoreland is now 4-1.
