Babysitter accused of endangerment after tot, 3, found wandering in city

A babysitter has been charged after a 3-year-old was found wandering around William Street early Monday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said they were called to the intersection of William and Expense streets at about 7:17 a.m. when a neighbor saw a 3-year-old girl running across the street and up and down the sidewalks. Officer Jenna Kiskiel found the child and authorities said she was able to determine that the girl lived in a brown house.

Police said the house was located about two blocks away at the intersection of William and North Jay streets. Police said resident Laiken Frost, age 25, was supposed to be watching the girl at the residence while her roommate, the girl’s mother, was at work.

Police said Frost thought the child was asleep in her room while Frost was also asleep. Police said it appears the child woke up, got herself dressed and left the residence.

Frost is charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police stated. Due to state bail reforms, police said Frost was released on an appearance ticket to City Court.
