The release of the autopsy results in the death of Kerrilee D’Avolio have been delayed for another week.
Rome Police said they intended to release the autopsy results today, but now say they hope to release the results next Monday, Aug. 12. Police said there were “additional investigative measures” that need to be completed before the preliminary autopsy report will be available.
Police said D’Avolio was shot and killed with a rifle at her home on Belmont Street either late Sunday night, July 28 or early the following morning. Police said her estranged husband, Jason D’Avolio, is the only suspect in her killing, and police are treating it as a homicide.
Police said D’Avolio admitted to wrapping the body in a sheet and placing it in a dumpster, then throwing the rifle into the Barge Canal. The body and the rifle were recovered on Tuesday, July 29.
Jason D’Avolio is charged with one count of concealment of a human corpse, a class E felony, authorities stated. He remains in county jail in lieu of bail. His case will be presented to a grand jury for a possible indictment.
