Auto dealership changes hands in Boonville

BOONVILLE — Matt Nimey Buick GMC has announced that it has acquired Lee Buick GMC Trucks, effective Monday, Sept. 19.

“We’re incredibly excited about this new opportunity,” says Matt Nimey, owner, at Matt Nimey Buick GMC. “Our customers are always our number one priority, and we look forward to bringing our honest and open approach to automotive service and sales to Boonville.”

The dealership, which closed temporarily on Monday, will remain closed through Wednesday, Sept. 21, as it transitions several computer and software systems.

“We anticipate a smooth transition from the Lee family to ours,” Nimey said. “We’re happy to say that all of the current employees are staying with us as we take over ownership. We’re always looking for talented, customer-focused people to join our team and we hope to add to our Boonville dealership as we grow,” the announcement said.

“I feel good about turning over our dealership to Matt, Cindy, and their team,” says Randy Lee, vice president at Lee Buick GMC Trucks. “Matt and Cindy are all about family, and we know they’ll treat our team and our customers with the same care we always have. They have the same values we do.”

The Lee family will continue to be present at the dealership throughout the transaction. Current customers will continue to receive the same quality service and “no pressure sales” at Matt Nimey Buick GMC, officials said, with new offerings, including undercoating and ceramic vehicle coating. Additionally, the business will continue to offer new Buick and GMC cars, trucks, and SUVs for sale, with an expanded used car selection.

Matt Nimey Buick GMC has its roots beginning in 1964. Matt Nimey went to work alongside his father and mother at Rich Nimey’s Sales & Service in Utica in 1999, and then became Nimey’s New Generation Cars in 2014. Nimey’s New Generation Cars was recently recognized as the 2022 Utica Observer-Dispatch ‘Best of the Best’ Automobile Service Center. The creation of Matt Nimey Buick GMC expands the Nimey brand to Boonville.

The Lee family has been part of the community for decades. They are educated in Boonville schools, have made Boonville their home, and have given back to the community for years. The family has been part of the Boonville automotive landscape since 1953, starting as a Pontiac dealership. The dealership expanded and became Lee Buick GMC Trucks, serving the community in its current location since 1965.

Aside from a love of cars, the Nimey and Lee families share a commitment to community, family, and service. “We know that change can be hard,” said Matt Nimey. “The Lee family is a big part of Boonville. We believe that as the community gets to know us, and experiences the honesty and integrity we’re known for, they’ll see that the dealership name is changing, the values aren’t.”
