Attempts to avoid a crash in Lee lead to a different crash
LEE — One person was hospitalized after attempts to avoid a crash on Route 26 in Lee Saturday evening, led to a different crash with a porch, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies said Brian M. Dehart, 42, of Watertown, was northbound on Route 26 around 6:44 p.m. Saturday when Matthew K. Moor, 23, of Baldwinsville, pulled out in front of him from Stokes-Westernville Road. Deputies said Moor hit the brakes and stopped his 2015 Kia in the intersection, while Dehart took evasive maneuvers and turned to the right.
Dehart's 2005 Landrover veered off the north shoulder of Stokes-Westernville Road and his passenger side scraped along the side of a parked 2011 Kia, authorities stated. The Landrover then crashed into the front porch steps of a nearby residence.
A juvenile passenger in Dehart's vehicle was taken to Rome Health for a minor injury, authorities said. The crash remains under investigation.
