Association of Public Historians in Region 7 to meet

NEW HARTFORD — The Association of Public Historians in New York State invites area historians and the public to the Region 7 meeting on Saturday, April 2, to be hosted by the Oneida County History Center.

This program will include presentations from historians Norm Dann, Chris Connolly, and Dick Williams. Rebecca McLain will discuss the OCHC collection and research options, David Wittner, talks resources at the Utica College Center for Historical Research, and Patrick Reynolds will discuss the use of mapping software for historians.

The day ends with a tour of historic 3 Rutger Park, according to an announcement by event organizers.

All lecture sessions will be available both in-person and virtually via Zoom. 

The program will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is $10.

The deadline to register is Friday, March 25.

• Norm Dann: the story of Gerrit Smith’s father Peter Smith

• Chris Connolly: The Lambert Will story 

• Dick Williams: the Mohawk Valley during the Revolutionary War

• Rebecca McLain: the OCHC collection, research options, and library tour

• Dr. David Wittner: resources at the Utica College Center for Historical Research 

• Patrick Reynolds: mapping software for historians

• Tour of 3 Rutger Park, one of the most significant structures in Oneida County.
