Public can add input on Rome art walk expansion

Posted

ROME — The City of Rome along with the project consultant —  Saratoga Springs-based landscape architecture, planning and engineering firm, CLA Site — will host the first of three public meetings from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Capitol Theatre to discuss locations, themes, and ideas to expand the existing public art walk along West Dominick Street.

The project will build on the Deo-wain-sta public art plaza located within the 300 block of W. Dominick St. The art walk is envisioned to support economic activity and business development within downtown Rome and capitalize on the tourism activity generated by the Fort Stanwix National Monument.

The city was successful in receiving funding from the state Department of State Brownfield Opportunity Area Program to continue with the design and installation of two new art pieces along West Dominick Street.

For those who are unable to attend the first meeting, but still would like to give input, two more public meetings will be scheduled in the coming months.
