OLD FORGE — View, the center for arts and culture, is calling for artists to submit their work for the 71st Annual Central Adirondack Art Show, taking place April 2 to June 5.

The Show is open to current artists ages 16 and up who are either members of View or reside within 200 miles of Old Forge.

Artists may submit one work in any medium except video, film, and sound. An entry fee of $25, $15 for View Members, allows artists to submit one work for exhibition. This year all works must be registered online before dropping off or shipping as there will be an online exhibition along with the in-person exhibition. For complete details and to register for this year’s exhibition, go online to ViewArts.org. The deadline to register is March 21.

Each award winner will receive a Adirondack Chip Award. Select awards will also include a monetary prize.

This year’s awards judge is Ann Larsen. Larsen was born in Louisville, Kentucky and received her bachelor’s degree in Art from the Rhode Island School of Design. She relocated to Denver, where for the next 5 years she painted from Colorado to California. Her love of landscape continued for the next 20 years while living in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. One of her most memorable trips was a week of painting on iconic Monhegan Island, Maine. She states that, “being able to walk in the footsteps of some of the country’s greatest painters was incredibly inspiring.”

An opening reception will be held on Friday, April 22. There will be a gathering for View members and exhibiting artists at 4 p.m., followed by a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. which will be open to the public. The reception will include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

All the work will be able to be viewed online Thursday, April 28, at ViewArts.org. View is located at 3273 Route 28.
