Army National Guard announces promotions

LATHAM — Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, the adjutant general for New York, has announced the promotion of several local members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

They include:

Kqworoziah Hartwell, of Utica, Company D, 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, promoted to private first class;

Julianna Harrison, of Oriskany, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, promoted to private first class;

Duhamel Morales Mercado, of Utica, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, promoted to private;

Christopher Isom, of Utica, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, promoted to specialist; and

Pavel Volk, of Utica, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, promoted to private first class.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential, the announcement said.
