Area students join Buttenschon to show love for veterans
UTICA — Veteran’s Day is a day to honor the men and women who are veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Not only should we honor them on this federal holiday, but why not on Valentine’s Day?
Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon has made Valentine’s Day a special time for our veterans.
Over the past few weeks, coloring cards were given to schools in the 119th Assembly District for students to color for a veteran.
Students colored the cards and wrote messages to veterans thanking them. Some even wrote funny jokes and relayed their love and appreciation for their service.
Buttenschon distributed these happy tokens to veteran organizations and legions in the area for veterans to remember that they are deeply appreciated by their community.
Buttenschon’s office also made a “Valentines for Veterans” video that will be distributed to veterans in nursing homes. This video is live on Buttenschon’s Facebook page.
“Every year, Veterans look forward to receiving the cards that students make for them. I appreciate our students work under the guidance of many local educators. We have the opportunity to spread joy in my district. Our veterans must always be acknowledged for their contributions to our country.” Buttenschon said.
