CLINTON — In celebration of Music in Our Schools Month, both Clinton and Westmoreland central schools will present their 2020 school musicals March 5-7.

Clinton Central School will present Disney’s “High School Musical” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 5-7 at Clinton Performing Arts Center Theater.

The theater box office will open at 5:30 p.m. each evening before the performance for ticket sales.

Tickets are $10 and only cash or check will be accepted. No ticket orders will be taken over the phone.

Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.

It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year.

Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

Beauty and the Beast is a musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton.

The musical is adapted from Walt Disney Pictures’ Academy Award-winning1991 animated musical film by the same name – which in turn had been based on the classic French fairytale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont.

Beauty and the Beast tells the story of a cold-blooded prince who has been magically transformed into an unsightly creature as punishment for his selfish ways. To revert into his true human form, the Beast must first learn to love a bright, beautiful young woman whom he has imprisoned in his enchanted castle before it’s too late.
