Arc seeks help to ‘raise the roof’ for repairs to building

LOWVILLE — The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter is holding the “Raise the Roof” capital campaign, seeking to generate funds to help purchase a new roof at its Progress Industries building on Forest Avenue.

Progress Industries is The Arc’s business division, providing employment opportunities and all-inclusive working environments for people with developmental disabilities and non-disabled workers through contracted work with local and national companies. The building’s roof has weathered many North Country winters over the years and needs replacement.

This project’s size and scope are significant, Arc officials said, adding that fundraising efforts are essential to complete the project. The Arc has procured a $25,000 matching grant from the Cloudsplitter Foundation for this campaign, but needs to raise $25,000 to secure those funds. They’re asking people and businesses in the community to donate to the project by sending a check made payable to The Friends of The Arc Foundation, 245 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501, or by giving online at www.thearcolc.org.

No gift is too small, Arc officials aid, and all funds raised during this campaign will be directly applied to the project.

The Cloudsplitter Foundation seeks to improve the environment, both physical and cultural, in the Adirondacks and to make life easier, healthier, and more rewarding for the people who live there. While more than 70% of the foundation’s grants go to institutions in the Adirondacks, their secondary mission, to the extent that funds are available, is to aid other organizations dedicated to humanitarian causes, wilderness preservation, protecting civil liberties and cultural development.
