Arc Herkimer to spearhead cleanup

ILION — Arc Herkimer is joining the local effort, Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful, to clean up the villages and surrounding areas of Central New York. The initiative is part of a larger effort called Keep America Beautiful, whose goal is to keep each community in our country clean, green, and beautiful.

The local chapter will concentrate on gathering volunteers throughout a six-county region – Herkimer, Oneida, Otsego, Schoharie, Fulton, and Montgomery, and encourage teams to take on cleanup projects in their local area.

For its part, Arc Herkimer will clean up the gazebo area, side street, alleyway, and other surroundings of the Arc Herkimer Mall in Ilion. The agency acquired the mall several years ago and is dedicated to maintaining its integrity.

“This collaboration with Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful is a terrific way celebrate Earth Day, while also preparing for the opening of our new eatery in the mall, Copper Café,” says Kevin Crosley, president/CEO of Arc Herkimer. “Our Communications Team, our mid-level managers and executives, are excited to work together on this initiative and give back to the community of Ilion.”

The crew will begin the cleanup at 9 a.m. on Saturday. After the initial effort, the area will be maintained through Arc Herkimer’s Supports & Training for Employing People Successfully program, which engages people supported in acquiring skills they can utilize in the working world.
