UTICA — BlueCross and BlueShield are offering non-profit organizations the opportunity to apply for Community Health Award grants to help fund health and wellness programs in upstate New York.
The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, March 5.
Nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations in Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s 31-county upstate New York region are invited to apply for an award of up to $4,000 each, with a total of $100,000 throughout the region. The award can be used for programs that have clear goals to improve the health or health care of a specific

President, Eve Van de Wal said the company’s Community Health Awards demonstrate a corporate commitment to support local organizations that share its mission.
“These awards complement our existing grants and sponsorships with agencies that work to enhance quality of life, including health status, in upstate New York.” Van de Wal said.
Earlier this year, 13 Utica/Rome/North Country organizations received Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Awards from last fall, when close to 40 applications were submitted by organizations in the 14-county Utica/Rome/North Country region. Winning organizations included the Kelberman Center and Masonic Care Community, both in Utica.
