American Legion Spring craft show returns
ROME — The second annual Spring Fling craft fair will take place Saturday, March 25, at the Henry P. Smith American Legion, 325 Erie Blvd.
“We have done 15 Christmas craft fairs, and this is the second one we are doing before Easter. We have had a great deal of interest in this event. We have new and repeat vendors. Everyone has been very excited! The attendance at our 2022 Spring Fling was great, and we are looking forward to great attendance at our 2023 Event. Remember, we have plenty of free parking,” said event chairman Mary Anne Casadei, in an announcement.
The event, hosted by the legion auxiliary, will feature 21 vendors, a bake sale, door prize raffles, and more. Vendors will be selling a variety of items, including leather goods, woodworking, Scentsy, primitive woodworking, hand-sewn items, centerpieces, wreaths, homemade jams and jellies, home-made Easter candy, as well as many home decor items. The bake sale will have pies, cakes, muffins, and cookies, and you might even find homemade fudge.
There also will be a concession stand that will serve lunch items.
“We are excited to be able to continue our programs for our veterans, children, and community.” Because of the funds raised, we will be able to assist families and continue to serve our veterans. We play a vital role in the lives of our veterans and their families. This event makes it possible,” Peggy Martin, the event co-chair added.
Casadei added, “We continue to sponsor Tunnel to Towers. This is a wonderful program for disabled veterans as well as first responders. Tunnel to Towers provides homes for disabled veterans and first responders that are built to accommodate their specific needs.”
The unit has several programs that will benefit veterans and servicemen, including its Auxiliary Emergency Fund that assists its members with a one-time non-refundable grant to help them out in a time of need, and the Warrior Family Assistance Program that assists veterans when they find themselves in need of support.
There also will be a membership table with information about the American Legion family where you can learn about the benefits of becoming a member.
