UTICA — The HomeOwnershipCenter has announced the availability of three Down Payment and Rehabilitation Assistance Programs for first time home buyers purchasing homes in the City of Utica, Oneida County and Madison County.

The City of Utica Down Payment Assistance Program is for first time home buyers looking to purchase within Utica city limits. This forgivable grant, of up to $7,200, provides down payment assistance only. The total grant amount is determined by the household’s income level, which must be at or below 80% ($40,550 for one person) of the Area’s Median Income (AMI) set by HUD.

The Down Payment and Rehabilitation Assistance Programs are for first time home buyers purchasing in Oneida or Madison County:

-To qualify for the Oneida County program, the buyer’s gross annual income must be at or below 112% AMI ($45,400 for one person).

-To qualify for the Madison county program, the buyer’s gross annual income must be at or below 137% AMI ($61,000 for one person). Both of these grants offer up to $31,500 for down payment and housing rehabilitation.

Applications will only be provided to those that complete Homebuyer Education and Financial Coaching.

These classes fill up fast, according to information. Grant-seekers can register by visiting http://unhs.org/ and clicking the Compass banner at the top of the page.

Grants can be combined with the Homebuyer Dream Program and other assistance programs.

For additional information about any of the programs, call 315-724-4197 or email home@unhs.org.
