Adirondack’s White, Westmoreland’s Miller and NY Mills’ Copperwheat earn CSC baseball honors


The Center State Conference has had plenty of storylines during the spring season.

The conference, which includes 21 schools in multiple counties around the Mohawk Valley, announced all-star selections.

In Division I, Section III Class C champion Adirondack – which is playing Saturday against Section IV’s Lansing for a bid to states as part of an impressive postseason run – had junior standout Colin White earn Player of the Year honors.

Seven other CSC D-I players received at least a vote for the honor, with Little Falls junior Chase Regan second and Clinton sophomore Kyle Majka third.

In Division II, Westmoreland – which finished the regular season undefeated – had senior captain and pitcher/catcher Caleb Miller take Player of the Year honors. 

In Division III, New York Mills senior Logan Copperwheat earned Player of the Year, edging out Morrisville-Eaton’s Nick Brady.

Division I selections

Little Falls (16-3 overall) had the most selections with four all-stars and three honorable mentions. The all-stars were Regan, Matt Prestopnik, Rikki Smith and Jack Morotti. The team’s honorable mentions were Brayton Langdon, Braden McCumber and Sammy Phillips.

Holland Patent (13-6 overall) had three all-star selections: senior Caiden Briggs and sophomores Luke Benedetto and Alex Hoole. The team’s honorable mentions were senior Andrew Jones and juniors Adam Jones and Matt Lux. 

For Clinton (8-10 overall), senior Tanner Champion and sophomores Majka and Aiden Soika were all-stars. Junior Ryan Chmielewski was honorable mention.

For Adirondack (12-11 overall), juniors Brett Sanford and White were all-stars with honorable mention going to seniors Jake Khouri, Kreedon Rogers and Chris Strobel.

Mount Markham (9-10 overall) had a pair of all-stars: juniors Kevin Gates and Mason Beigh.

Canastota (4-14 overall) had one all-star: senior Austin Ames and three honorable mentions with junior Malachi Motley, sophomore Jesse Demaintenon and freshman Devon Faber. 

Sherburne-Earlville (1-14 overall had one all-star: senior Nick McDaniel. Honorable mentions were seniors Taylor Grymkowski and Ben Menard.

Division II selections

Westmoreland (18-1 overall) had the most selections with seven. The team’s four all-stars are seniors Jerry Fiorini and Miller, junior Owen Davison and sophomore Hunter Kierpiec. Senior Josh Suber, junior Michael Scalise and sophomore Anthony Sawanec are honorable mentions.

Cooperstown (10-7 overall) was also close behind with six total selections. The squad’s all-stars are seniors Treston Emerick and Liam Ford and junior Braydon Hascup. Honorable mentions are junior Ethan Kukenberger and sophomores Kalen Dempsey and Emerson Toulson.

Sauquoit Valley (8-11 overall) was also close behind with six total selections. The all-stars are seniors Ben LoGalbo, Nick Miller and Garrett Stalker. Honorable mentions are junior Marc Perry and sophomores Josh LoGalbo and Andrew Price.

Frankfort-Schuyler (8-8 overall) had a pair of all-stars: senior Donnie Gatto and sophomore Angelo DeSarro. Honorable mentions are senior Jake Parrotta and eighth-grader Thomas Eck.

West Canada Valley (7-10 overall) had two all-stars: sophomores Sean Burdick and Ian Farber. Honorable mentions are senior Cameron Rath, junior Josh Grabowski and freshman Jack Stewart.

Herkimer (4-13 overall) had one all-star: senior Jacob Huyck. Honorable mentions are senior Dylan Hart and juniors David Bass and Lucas Malinowski.

Waterville (3-16 overall) had one all-star: senior Brent Barnes. Honorable mentions are seniors Devin Barnes and Rocco Padula and junior Cole Pearsall.

Division III selections 

Oriskany (16-4 overall), which lost in the Section III Class D final, had six total selections. The all-stars are senior Ty Zizzi, sophomore Anthony Kernan, freshman Christian Grant and eighth-grader Eddie Wright. Honorable mentions are senior Alex Burrows, junior Karsten Bates and freshman Nick Hays.

New York Mills (14-5 overall) had four all-stars: Copperwheat, juniors Leo Cruz and Tim Lavier and sophomore Lucas Komnick. Senior Noah Diskin, junior Ben Boccardo and sophomore Ryan Komnick are honorable mentions.

Section III Class D champion Morrisville-Eaton (17-3 overall) had three all-stars: senior Nick Brady, junior James Dapson and sophomore Evan Stewart.

Hamilton (10-7 overall) had a pair of all-stars: senior Tom Simpson and junior Colby Campbell.

Poland (7-9 overall) had a pair of all-stars: senior Ben Deragon and Colton Roark. Honorable mention is senior Nate Baumes.

Remsen (3-12 overall) had one all-star: junior Ben Stastowski. Honorable mentions are juniors Grady Helmer and Noah Skermont and freshman Matthew Helmer.

Town of Webb (0-13 overall) had one all-star: senior George Uzdavinis. Honorable mentions are juniors Ryan Madtes and Dominic Aliasso and freshman Preston Morris.
