BOONVILLE — Adirondack High School’s varsity boys and girls basketball teams will take to the court on Friday, Jan. 17 for a match-up with Herkimer and Sauquoit Valley in support of the American Cancer Society.
The school will host its annual Coaches Vs. Cancer night, which is a national effort by high school and collegiate coaches to raise awareness and funds for further research, education, advocacy and patient service programs through the ACS.
The evening will include a free throw competition at half-time, 50/50 drawing, and special “Shooting for a Cure” T-shirts that students will have for pre-sale to help raise additional funds.
“Cancer and other illnesses affect everyone in one way or another,” said Crystal Leichty, Adirondack Youth Advisory Council advisor, one of the event organizers. “This event is about cancer awareness and bringing the community together.”
Tip off for the four games takes place with the junior-varsity games at 5:30 p.m. at Adirondack High School. The girls’ teams will take on Sauquoit, and the boys’ teams, Herkimer.
