Adirondack Athletics Hall of Fame being formed


BOONVILLE — An Adirondack Central School (ACS) Athletics Hall of Fame is being formed to recognize outstanding players, coaches, contributors and teams of the ACS sports program.

A committee will accept nominations for the initial group of inductees until April 4, and an announcement of the selections will be around July 4, according to an announcement on the school district website including a Facebook link.

In the fall, the committee plans to start an annual Hall of Fame banquet including an inauguration.

The Hall of Fame committee will select 7-to-10 individuals and one or two teams each year. Among requirements for candidates: athletes must have graduated from ACS at least five years prior to being considered; nominees must have demonstrated good citizenship and character; a coach or administrator shall be considered after leaving the Adirondack athletic program; selection of an outstanding team must wait until five years after the team last competed; nominations will be accepted for any athlete, coach, administrator or contributor who through commitment, sacrifices and dedication to the program brought pride and distinction to the school and community.

Nomination forms are available by selecting the “Athletics” link on the school district home page at, and then selecting an “Adirondack Athletics Hall of Fame” link. Forms also are available in the school district office and the high school office.
