Walter Constantini, director of the Airframe and Powerplant Program at Mohawk Valley Community College, will present a lecture on “An Introduction to the MVCC A&P Program” Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the MVCC hangar at Griffiss airport, 116 Langley Road.
The event is presented through the Rome Academy of Sciences.
An informal dinner with Constantini and Academy of Sciences trustees will be held at CPJ’s Restaurant, 1321 Floyd Ave., at 5:15 p.m. that day. Attendees will order from the restaurant menu. People interested in attending can contact Fred Haritatos on or before Monday at FHaritatos@twcny.rr.com or at 315-336-9289.
The dinner and meeting are open to the public.
Constantini’s lecture will educate the public about the MVCC A&P Program, and a tour of the facilities will follow the presentation, the Academy of Sciences said. The public will have an opportunity to observe jet engine demonstrations, the inner workings of real aircraft, and what happens on the ground and in the air before, during and after a flight.
The MVCC program is the only community college-based aviation maintenance program in the state, and one of the only programs in the country that can be completed in one year, the academy said. It added that students gain hands-on experience with real equipment and aircraft.
