MADISON — An abandoned residence was destroyed by fire in the Town of Madison in Madison County Tuesday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The alarm was raised at 2:47 p.m. for a fire at an abandoned house at 7757 Route 20, authorities said. Volunteers from several local fire departments responded to the scene and doused the fully involved structure. Authorities said heavy winds caused some hindrance as they battled the blaze.

No one was injured The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Madison and Oriskany Falls fire departments responded to the scene.
