A. Paul (Doc) Polce, 85, of Lee, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Rome Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 31, 1932, in Rome, N.Y. a son of the late Joseph and Helen Slaga Polce. He was educated in Rome Schools and was formerly employed by Rome Cable and Revere Copper & Brass as a carpenter. In 1953, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until 1955. Upon returning home from the service, Paul was united in marriage to Mary Roth, in a service which took place in St. Mary’s Church, Rome. He was employed by National Grid as a serviceman until his retirement. Paul was a member of St. Joseph’s Church of Lee Center. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling, wintering in the south and spending summers at his camp in the Adirondacks.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Mary of Lee; four daughters and sons-in-law, Larriean and Robert Comis, Sherrill, Carolann and Jeremy Nighan, NC, Marylyn and Robert VanDresar, Sherrill, Donalyn and Mark Small, NC; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ermina Polce, FL; six cherished grandchildren, Alyssa and Bryan Comis, Cortney, Kendyl and Robbie VanDresar and Haiden Small.
Private funeral services with military honors took place on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center. There were no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rome. Arrangements by Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome.
