Congratulations to senior Damien Call, who became this week the fifth player in RFA’s basketball program to score 1,000 or more points. The lofty goal, fortuitously, came on Senior Night during which the Black Knights beat visiting Notre Dame, 103-72.
All around, it was a great night for Rome scholastic athletics. And it was before a big crowd.
Call led the Black Knights with 31 points including five 3-pointers and eight rebounds. The guard now has 1,001 career points. Joe Mortis is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,099 points.
Asked about his feat, Call said: “It’s pretty amazing. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the 1,000-point club and to reach the milestone. I’ve been working on this my whole life. This has always been a goal of mine.”
In addition, RFA honored their nine seniors before the contest. The seniors are Jordan Baldwin, Call, Justin Hoke, Isaac Howard, Aidan Hunzinger, Isaiah Kelly, Jake Podkowka, Andrew Recco and Ke’Andre Williams.
They all deserve a round of applause for their contribution to RFA athletics.
