A bit-too-happy meal?

Fast food is so unhealthy that you’d have to be high to eat it, some say. Maybe that explains why a Florida man got arrested after trying to pay for his McDonald’s drive-thru meal with pot instead of money.

Anthony Andrew Gallagher, 23, made the offer last week to a worker in the drive-thru window at a Port St. Lucie, Florida, McDonald’s, police say. He offered up a bag of marijuana instead of cash in exchange for his meal.

The drive-thru worker refused, and Gallagher drove off. A short time later -- after the drive-thru worker had called the police -- Gallagher returned. It was unclear if he was making a second attempt to barter the pot for food. In any case, police arrested him at the scene. Officers noted a “heavy odor of marijuana emitting from the car,” and they found 11 grams of marijuana on him.

According to media reports, Gallagher admitted he offered marijuana in exchange for food, but said it was a joke. He was charged with possession and driving under the influence. Maybe next time he will drive up with a car full of cash instead of marijuana.
