The Zion Episcopal Church, at the corner of West Liberty and North Washington Streets is hosting their 76th annual strawberry shortcake social Saturday, July 28, from noon-3 p.m.
As part of the celebration, there will be a basket raffle. You do not have to be present to win, just write your name and phone number on your raffle tickets, and a church member will call you if you win.
Tickets are $1 for 3, or $5 for a strip of tickets that reaches from the ticket seller’s nose to the fingertips. The proceeds from the basket raffle will be used to purchase animals such as goats and chickens through the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund. More information is available online at www.episcopalrelief.org (under the “Gifts for Life” headline or just click on the animal).
Tickets for both the strawberry social and the basket raffle may be purchased at the door, or you may purchase your social tickets ahead of time at the church office between 9 a.m. and noon any weekday. The strawberries were picked early and frozen and the biscuits and whipped cream is fresh, made that day.
The shortcake tickets are $4, and $3.50 for seniors and children age 12 and under.
