65-year-old victim in Utica burning car crash identified


UTICA — The victim of the burning car crash in Utica Tuesday night has been identified as 65-year-old Joseph Suppa, of Utica, according to law enforcement officials.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police said Suppa was behind the wheel when his motor vehicle crashed into a wooded area off Albany Street and South Park Drive at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said the vehicle was engulfed in flames, and rescue personnel worked together to free Suppa from the vehicle.

Authorities said Suppa later died from his injuries at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
