REMSEN — The fourth full weekend in September has come and gone but memories of this year’s Remsen Barn Festival of the Arts will certainly linger.
Thousands visited Remsen to enjoy the Welsh traditions and savor 275 exhibits, arts & crafts, farmer’s market and country cooking. The Barn Festival is always the fourth full weekend in September. This year the fest celebrated 40 years, rain or shine.
You can learn the details of this annual event at remsenbarnfestival.org.
One of the best descriptions you can find there certainly sums up what the festival is all about:
“We can’t say enough about this show! It is not because of the fact that we are selling well, and we have been picked up by a store wanting to carry our wares, or even the size of the crowd and the fantastic variety of offerings. It is the people and the scenery! The patrons are die hard attendees regardless of weather or even in past hard economic times. They come in throngs. Why? Because of the community spirit and pride. This is a slice of America so often forgotten...”
In Remsen, tradition certainly isn’t forgotten. The Barn Fest gets better every year.
