4-H event to bring family fun, and Mother’s Day crafts

ROME — A host of friendly animals and Mother’s Day crafts will be featured family fun on 4-H Clover Day, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Runnings in Rome.

Oneida County 4-H youth will assist little ones in making a special gift for mom, organizers said.

In addition to the crafts, the 4-H youth will show off their project animals, and parents are invited to bring their children to see an array of calves, goats, and rabbits, event organizers added.

Oneida County 4-H program leaders will also be talking about some native animals and insects such as honeybees and ladybugs.

4-H is one of the largest youth serving organizations in the nation. The goal of the program is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through a variety of experiential learning programs and a positive approach.

The 4-H motto is “To make the best better,” and its slogan is “Learn by doing.”
