CAZENOVIA — A Madison County man is facing 38 weapons-related charges after an investigation into his home in Cazenovia, according to law enforcers with the New York State Police.
Troopers said they searched the home of Thomas R. Butts, 37, of South Road on Friday due to a complaint of possible drug activity.
Troopers said they found drug paraphernalia inside the home, and a large number of unsecured guns and
magazines.
A total of 12 handguns, six assault rifles, two assault pistols, four shotguns, five rifles and 18 high-capacity magazines were seized from the residence, troopers stated.
Butts is charged with one count of second-degree possession of a weapon, 15 counts of third-degree possession of a weapon and 22 counts of first-degree failure to safely store firearms, authorities said.
He was arraigned in Fenner Town Court and was released after posting $35,000 bail.
He is scheduled to reappear in court to answer the charges, according to the troopers.
