2022 Colgate grad Minicus selected in Premier Lacrosse League draft

HAMILTON — Colgate men's lacrosse alum Brian Minicus was selected by Chaos Lacrosse Club in the 2023 Premier Lacrosse League draft Tuesday evening. The club drafted him with the seventh pick in the second round.

Minicus, who graduated from Colgate last year, played in 39 games during his four seasons with the Raiders, making 32 starts. He finished his career with 133 points, tallying 68 goals and 65 assists.

In his final season, Minicus notched a career-best 59 points by 36 goals and 23 assists on his way to earning All-Patriot League first team honors. He led the Raiders in points and finished third in the Patriot League. Minicus' 36 goals were also a team-best and ranked third-most in the conference. Additionally, he scooped up 22 ground balls which sat tied for third most on the squad.

As a junior, Minicus got named to the All-Patriot League second team after recording 40 points with 15 goals and 25 assists. He ranked first on the team in points and assists and finished second in goals. The attackman logged seven goals and 12 helpers for 19 points during his sophomore campaign after registering 15 points with 10 goals and five assists during his first season.

The Darien, Connecticut native excelled in the classroom while at Colgate. He was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team as a senior and was a multiple-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and Raider Academic Honor Roll selection.

Minicus is the first Colgate player to be drafted professionally since 2019.
