2020 Innovation Summit coming to Verona

VERONA — The 2020 state Innovation Summit will be held Oct. 27-28 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino, according to an announcement by the Empire State Development agency.

The annual summit brings together technology companies, particularly startups, using a series of speakers, breakout sessions and pitch/proposal sessions to encourage them to collaborate and advance new technologies in the state, the agency announcement said.

The 2019 event, held in Rochester, attracted more than 500 innovators, business leaders and entrepreneurs, providing a boost to area hotels, restaurants and attractions, ESD noted.

At this year’s summit, ESD’s Division of Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) and FuzeHub, the statewide center for the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership, will feature advancements in technology and the latest innovation trends. The event will also highlight the Mohawk Valley’s economic assets and talented workforce for business leaders and government officials from across the state, added ESD.

The 2020 summit will focus on several key sectors of the state’s economy that are critical to sustained growth, said ESD, including:

Advanced manufacturing;

Advanced materials;

Digital technology (A.I., big data, media and gaming technology);

Clean technology, energy and environmental innovations;

Life sciences and biotechnology; and

Nanotechnology, electronics, optics and photonics

Speakers and panelists will be announced in the coming months. Businesses interested in showcasing technologies, products or services at the event will be able to request to exhibit beginning in the spring, said ESD. Sponsorship opportunities will also be available.
