Twenty Rome Free Academy students have qualified for a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) state competition on April 10-12 in Binghamton, the Rome school district said.
FBLA students take tests on topics such as Accounting, Business Calculations, Computer Problem Solving, and Microsoft Office applications, plus they prepare for public speaking events. They will also be attending various leadership and skills development workshops, the district said.
The RFA students advanced after being medal winners at a district-level event at Morrisville College last month. Among students to be attending the state competition: Jack Bremer, Cole Donnelly, James Faso, Nicholas Ferrett, Charles Gilroy, William Granger, Justin Hoke, Aiden Hunzinger, Nico Mattacola, Reilly O’Shaughnessy, Jakob Podkowka, Michael Polce, Jordan Purrington, Kelsey Rabe, Michael Tallarino, Tyrin Tennant and Derek Viviani. Also qualifying but not attending: Lillian Gilroy, Harun Shaik and Ruqiyah Shaik.
Students will be fundraising and seeking sponsors to help offset costs for the trip to the state competition.
The district expressed thanks to Mike Polce, President, CEO and founder of MA Polce Consulting Inc., who donated $500.
