18 new corrections officers graduate from academy

Eighteen new corrections officers graduated from the Basic Correction Officer Academy during a ceremony in Utica on Tuesday.

Fourteen of the new recruits will join the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, two will join the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and two will join the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The corrections officers academy is eight weeks of classroom learning, practical exercises, physical fitness training and military drills.

The graduation ceremony was held at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica. Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol and Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood pinned the badges on the graduates.

Oneida County officers: Patrick Albrecht, Luis Arzola-Berrios, Joshua Brunet, Dmitry Brutsky, Morgan Butcher, Ronald Gatto, Justin Heredia, Scott Holbert, Elmedin Imamovic, Ashley Leslie, Alexis Newbury, Anthony Papa, Jakob Phillips and Santia Torres.

Madison County officers:
Scott Ammann and Ericka Kaliske.

Lewis County officers: Sarah McNally and Paige Rivers.
