17th Uticon comic book show benefits ACS
UTICA — Uticon, the Mohawk Valley’s longest-running comic book show, returns from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 at Mohawk Valley Community College’s Jorgensen Athletic Center.
The event is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, organized by ACS Senior Manager for Community Development and local comic book creator Bob Elinskas.
Admission is $5 for adults 18 and older, $3 for teens and students and free for 12 and younger. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Now in its 17th year, Uticon brings the fun of comic book reading to the area once again while supporting the ACS outreach.
Fan-friendly comic book writers and artists come out to sign autographs and talk about their work. Vendors will sell new and vintage comic books and comic-related collectibles, role-playing games, Funko Pop toys, original art and other pop culture items.
All fans who attend will be given a free chance for door prizes, as well.
Guests as of press time include Marcus Kwame Anderson, Andrew Cieslinski, Maegan Cook, Keith Dallas, Nicholas Davis, Dave Dellecese, Ulises Farinas, Larry Hama, Mike Kelleher, Len Mihalovich, G.B. Macrae, Phil Miller, Melody Often, Joe Orsak, Bob Rozakis, Dan Sopp, Christian St. Pierre, Brandon Whipple and Jen Wojtowicz.
