UTICA — The Boilermaker 15K road race has reached its registration cap of 14,500, organizers announced on Tuesday.
However, options still exist for those who are still interested in participating in either the 15K or 5K:
• Individuals may have their names added to a first-come, first-served waiting list. Those on the waiting list will be contacted if and when their lottery number is reached, and they will be given a window of time to register.
• Registered runners may also officially transfer their bibs to prospective runners. Both the bib transfer and waiting list options are administered through RunSignUp, which can be accessed at boilermaker.com.
• A third option for participation is through the Boilermaker Charity Bib Program. Charity bib runners are tasked with raising funds on behalf of one of 11 non-profit organizations. There are less than a dozen charity bibs available and those interested in participating can contact the Boilermaker office for more information. Since the program’s inception in 2013, over $600,000 has been raised to benefit local charities.
Race officials added that although a 5K waiting list is in effect, it is unlikely that individuals will be selected from it. Instead, prospective 5K runners are encouraged to seek out official transfers or charity bibs.
