Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-119th Dist. of Marcy, delivered donations from her winter accessories drive to representatives from Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, The Center, and Upstate Cerebral Palsy Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
Buttenschon’s drive, which ended on Dec. 3, received donations such as hats, gloves and scarves at various drop-off locations across the 119th Assembly District.
The Utica Comets hockey team and Utica City Football Club indoor soccer team, who both use the auditorium as their home venue, collaborated on collecting the accessories.
Items will be donated to the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency; The Center, formerly known as the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees; and Upstate Cerebral Palsy.
“A lot of our new immigrant and refugee neighbors come from places that aren’t used to harsh winters so this means a lot,” said Dan Vellone, executive assistant at The Center.
Also at the delivery were Amy Turner, executive director of the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, and Geno DeCondo, the executive director of Upstate Cerebral Palsy, and members of Utica City Uros Momic, Matt Perrella and Ricardo De Queiroz Diagos.
