Westmoreland Fire Department to celebrate 75 years of service

WESTMORELAND — Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating its 75th anniversary of serving the town and community during a special celebration planned for Saturday, July 20.

Board of Fire Commissioners President Charles Miller said festivities will run at 100 Station Road from noon until about midnight.

There will be a DJ from 5 O’Clock Entertainment, as well as bands and acoustic acts performing all day that include Doug DeMarche and Tompkins Drive, an antique and vintage fire truck show during the afternoon, food, beverages, T-shirts, raffles, games and a bounce house for the kids.

The featured activity for the day will be a large parade kicking off down Main Street at 6 p.m.

“We have departments from three different counties coming in to participate, so we expect it to be a pretty large parade,” Miller said. “We really want to make this celebration
something people will remember and plan on for the following year.”

The Fire Commissioners president said the town is also providing a fireworks show to be held sometime between dusk and 10 p.m.

“The town wants this (celebration) to become something we hold every year,” Miller said.
