Utica Curling Club to host annual college tourney

WHITESTOWN — Feb. 8-10 curlers from Colgate University, Hamilton College, SUNY Poly Technical Institute and Syracuse University will host the 11th annual college tournament  at the Utica Curling Club. Twenty-four teams from all over the Northeast will participate in the bonspiel.

In addition to the host schools there will be rinks from Cornell, Harvard, MIT, RIT, RPI, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova, Bowdin (Maine) and Castleton (Vermont). The schools are not only vying for the tournament championship and the top spots in five other events but also to earn points toward qualifying for the U.S. Curling Association College Championships in March. Games will be open to the public to view beginning Saturday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m., with the finals at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 10.
