CLINTON — Stone Presbyterian Church, 8 S. Park Row, will celebrate the Pentecost, or “birthday of the church,” during its 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, June 9.
Parishioners will hear from Romans 8:14-17 how the spirit prays with everyone, from John 14:8-17, 25-27 of Jesus’s promise of the Holy Spirit, and The Rev. Scott Leonard, pastor, will tell the story from Acts of “tongues, as of fire” as they come to rest on each of the disciples.
Leonard will also preach on “The Advocate.” There will be a special liturgy for the occasion and parishioners will celebrate the Lord’s Supper, of which all are invited. Those who attend the service are asked to wear red as symbolic of the red flames of the Holy Spirit.
